Thinking of subscribing to our AltEnergy renewable energy information service? Here are some questions we’ve been asked about joining AltEnergy along with our feedback.

Q: What service does AltEnergy provide?
A: Our service has two main products; Project Update and Project Database. Each week in Project Update we collate for subscribers all the information which relates to or impacts on Australian and New Zealand renewable energy generation projects of greater than 1 MW capacity. The relevant information is then fed into our Project Database which is constantly being updated. Here you can find all the significant information about each project, such as Location, Capacity, Description, Developer/Owner, Expected Cost, Status, Major Contractors and Suppliers, Contacts, and a project timeline in the form of status updates allowing you to follow its progress. Additionally our raw data can be purchased on request.

You’ve probably heard about our products and service before from us so we won’t go into too much detail here. A more comprehensive description of our Project Database, Project Update and Data Access products can be found here:

Q: What type of information am I missing out on if I don’t subscribe?
Here is a breakdown of some of the major types of stories we alerted subscribers to in April…
11 supplier/contract/EPC awards
10 project approvals
6 technology articles
16 new projects
8 policy/regulation items
7 finance items
16 project updates
4 tenders/EOIs
And that’s just in 4 editions in April!

All the relevant information is then loaded into our Project Database on a regular basis (every few days on average). We are confident we are offering subscribers with the most comprehensive, accurate and up-to-date renewable energy project data there is.

Q: Who should subscribe?
A: Already we’ve had a diverse range of subscribers join AltEnergy, including project developers, contractors, equipment suppliers, government departments, scientific organisations, regulators and employment agencies. Basically if you have any interest in keeping up-to-date about the booming large-scale renewable energy industry in Australia and New Zealand we can be of benefit to your company or organisation.

Q: How secure is your payment system?
A: AltEnergy uses the Stripe online payment software platform for its billing, payment and invoicing. Stripe is used by 100,000+ businesses in 100+ countries across nearly every industry and has nine global offices and hundreds of people working for it. Its investors include Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and PayPal co-founders Peter Thiel, Max Levchin, and Elon Musk. Stripe uses the most advanced security. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. More information is available from AltEnergy does not even see any of its subscribers’ credit card details, let alone store them. If paying by direct debit by arrangement the usual internet banking security systems apply. A tax invoice for every payment is provided.

Q: How secure are my personal details
A: For a start, we keep the absolute minimal personal records of our subscribers. Only what is required to login and access our products, which is your name, email address, password and address information you fill out when registering. Our site is protected with SSL SHA-256 encryption. We keep your password encrypted and are never able to see it in clear text. For those records we do need to store, we treat protecting your privacy very seriously and have a strict no sharing or disclosure policy to protect your personal details. It’s the same protocol one of the AltEnergy partners, Pex Publications (, has adopted since starting its energy publications subscription service in 1968. That’s almost 50 years and still going strong without a single complaint or breach of privacy! Additionally AltEnergy’s IT protection and security systems are above industry standard. Our full Privacy Policy is available here:

Q: What if I’m not satisfied with the service?
A: First up, we would like to hear from you ASAP if you are unhappy with any part of our service so we can try to resolve whatever issue you may be experiencing and improve our performance. However failing that, we purposely designed the payment service to be on a monthly basis so there were no long-term lock-in subscription periods. You can cancel at any time within the monthly billing cycle.

Q: Who can I contact for further information about subscribing to AltEnergy?
A: You can email Alexander for sales/subscription enquiries or Paul for data/product enquiries.
