Paling Yards Wind Farm EIS on exhibition
Published Date : 2024-April-30, Tuesday
An Environmental Impact Statement for Global Power
Generation Australia’s proposed Paling Yards Wind Farm,
located in the Central Tablelands of NSW, has been placed on exhibition for
public comment by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment.
The proposed project includes up to 47 wind turbines,
capable of generating up to 6.1MW per turbine for a total generation capacity
of up to 287 MW.
Ancillary infrastructure will include: an on-site 33/132kV
collector substation, approximately 7km of 132kV overhead powerline, and an
on-site 132/500kV switching substation to connect to the existing 500kV Mount
Piper to Bannaby transmission line.
The PYWF project has an offtake agreement in place with a
confidential off taker.
A total capital investment of approximately $600 million is
expected, and the project will create an estimated 152 full time employment
positions during construction plus up to four full time ongoing positions during
operation of the wind farm.
In
August 2020 GPG withdrew its development application for Paling Yards Wind
Farm, after it was originally submitted in 2014, to revisit the wind farm
design to make use of the latest in new technologies. The state planning
approval process was restarted in 2021.
