International renewable energy developer TagEnergy continues
to spread its wings in Australia by joining the Mt Fox Energy Park development
team.
Along with Tasmania-based Zephyr Energy Developments and
local landholders Brett and Eric Lollo, TagEnergy is proposing to build a 57-turbine,
350-400 MW wind farm and battery energy park located approximately 100km north-west
of Townsville, near Mount Fox, in northern Queensland.
PROJECT.e- has also been contracted to manage components of
the development, construction and operation of the Mt Fox wind farm.
This week TagEnergy’s 300 MW / 600 MWh Mt Fox BESS was
announced as one of eight successful applicants for ARENA’s Large Scale Battery
Storage Funding Round.
The development team has the necessary land use agreements
for the project site which consists primarily of unimproved pasture used for
cattle grazing.
Windlab is proposing a separate project - the 136-turbine,
approximately 600 MW Upper Burdekin Wind Farm - within a few kilometres to the
north-west of Mount Fox Energy Park.
TagEnergy is also a partner in the Golden Plains Wind Farm
project in Victoria, which in November reached financial close for the initial
756 MW stage.
Stage one will feature 122 V162-6.2 MW Vestas wind turbines
from the EnVentus platform, and will be Vestas’ largest onshore wind farm in
the Asia Pacific.
First turbine delivery is expected to occur in quarter 4 of 2023, with commissioning scheduled to start in quarter 4 2024.
