Iberdrola Australia is planning to expand its Woodlawn
Eco-precinct site in Torago NSW by adding a new wind farm.
Early-stage feasibility investigations have started into the potential expansion of wind generation via the Pylara Wind Farm.
The investigation area is located about 6km west of Tarago in NSW, within Pejar Local Aboriginal Land Council area and the Goulburn Mulwaree Council and Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council LGAs.
The number of wind turbines and possibility of including a BESS component will be considered during feasibility investigations, including wind monitoring and grid assessment studies, and First Nations, local community and stakeholder consultation.
Iberdrola’s Woodlawn Eco-Precinct includes the operating 48.3 MW Woodlawn Wind Farm and 140.7 MW Capital Wind Farm.
Development Approval for a Capital Wind Farm stage 2 was granted by NSW Planning Assessment Commission in 2011.
Capital 2 was planned by original developer Infigen as a 41-turbine, 144 MW project, however the DA lapsed in 2016 when an extension of 12 months was granted.
Although it appears the project has lapsed it is still listed as an active project by Iberdrola Australia, which acquired Infigen in 2021.
The latest status by Iberdrola for Capital 2 is “a Staging Plan (under Condition A13 of the Development Approval) was lodged with the DPIE in March 2018”.
