Bison Energy Australia has transmogrified into ANZA Power, backed
by long-term institutional investor I Squared Capital and a US$300 million
equity commitment from the ISQ Growth Markets Infrastructure Fund II.
Japan-headquartered, international renewable energy project developer, investor and EPC company Bison Energy rolled in its +17-project Australian and New Zealand development portfolio to newly formed entity ANZA Power.
Bison Energy had quietly built up a portfolio of solar farm and BESS projects in Australia and New Zealand after starting operations in Australia in 2017.
ANZA now has control of a mixed portfolio of projects in Australia ranging from:
- Sub 5 MW (4.95 MW AC/ 6+ MW DC) solar plants, some of which range up to 8.5 MW DC to support DC-coupled BESS.
- Utility-scale solar projects ranging from 30 MW up to the proposed
800 MW Marcollat Solar Farm and BESS in SA
- Standalone BESS projects ranging from 5 MW to 100 MW with
a mix of 2-4 hours storage.
In NZ, ANZA is preparing to start construction at the 30 MW AC Somerton Solar Farm in Q1 this year, with 100 MW AC Norwood and 70 MW AC Highfield solar farms to follow later this year.
In total ANZA has almost 600 MW of solar in development and 1600 MW of BESS capacity across Australia and Aotearoa.
