Mint seeking to install a new battery in WA's Great Southern region

Mint Renewables is planning community consultation sessions
for its Kojonup BESS project, proposed on a site located 3km north-west of
Kojonup adjacent to the existing Kojonup Sub-station in the Great Southern
region of Western Australia.
The Kojonup BESS will have an indicative capacity up to 800 MWh and a development footprint of approximately 4 hectares.
The site is on cleared land close to Albany Highway, minimising environmental and construction impacts.
The project pushes the renewable energy project belt further to the south-east of Perth, on the way to the operating Flat Rocks Wind Farm and at a junction of the grid.
Kojonup BESS is Mint’s second project in WA after it recently took over the lead developer role at the Nilgen Wind Farm, around 130km north of Perth.
Mint is investigating the feasibility of developing the up to 500 MW Nilgen Wind Farm at a location approximately 8km north-east of Lancelin in what has become a hot spot for new renewables projects.
The Melbourne-based developer is also recruiting a country lead for New Zealand, where it recently announced a partnership with Ngāi Tahu Holdings. A new joint venture Mint Aotearoa was formed "to develop high quality large scale renewable energy projects, including wind, solar and storage".
