Wallaroo Solar Farm takes a big jump forward
Published Date : 2023-August-21, Monday
A couple of lesser-known companies in the Australian solar
farm development industry have reached a major milestone for their Wallaroo
Solar Farm project in NSW.
Wallaroo Solar Farm Pty Ltd, a joint
venture of New Energy Development and Univergy International, has submitted an
EIS to the state planning regulator for its proposed up to 100 MW AC solar farm,
to be located near the ACT border 1km south of Wallaroo.
The project will include around 182,000
PV modules, 18 power conversion units, one onsite 132kV substation, and a BESS
with a nominal capacity of approximately 45 MW / 90 MWh installed within a 393-hectare
site.
The solar farm will connect to an
existing TransGrid 132kV line located adjacent to the site’s eastern boundary
and substation.
It will employ 150-200 employees at
peak construction, with ongoing operations employing 4-5 full time employees.
New Energy Development has operations
in Australia and South East Asia, and is currently involved in the development
of 12 large-scale solar farms with a combined generation capacity of 1.97 GW.
It also has a largescale solar rooftop EPC division operating throughout South
East Asia under the subsidiary PowerVault Thailand.
Univergy is a Spanish-Japanese
renewable energy developer established in 2012 which has now built an 17.8 GW
pipeline of projects across 19 countries. It has developed over 1 GW of solar
projects in Japan and has more than 2.6 GW of solar projects under development worldwide,
as well as onshore and offshore wind interests.
The Wallaroo Solar Farm is the only listing for New Energy
Development and Univergy in our project database.
