In its latest trading update, Metlen Energy & Metals
informs the market that it is close to completing deals to sell its Australian
and UK renewable energy portfolios.
“Both transactions are anticipated to be finalized in the near term”, Metlen said.
The Greece-headquartered company, then called Mytilineos, entered the Australian market via a subsidiary Metka EGN in 2019 by acquiring a portfolio of projects from Terrain Solar.
Since then it has developed 14 solar PV and battery projects in New South Wales and Queensland, with a total capacity of 3.36 GW (940 MW of solar and 2417 MW of BESS).
Specific projects include the operational 30 MW Corowa Solar Farm in NSW, 30 MW Junee Solar Farm in NSW, 40 MW Kingaroy Solar Farm in QLD, 99 MW Moura Solar Farm in QLD, 30 MW Wagga North Solar Farm in NSW, and the 62 MW Wyalong Solar Farm in NSW.
Metlen’s proposed Denman BESS, within the NSW Upper Hunter region and the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone, would be Australia’s largest BESS at 2.4 GW / 4.8 GWh.
It forms part of Metlen’s Denman Renewable Energy Hub which includes the 90 MW AC Upper Hunter South Solar Farm. Both projects are on public exhibition period and being assessed by the NSW state planning authority.
