ENGIE ANZ has released plans for its proposed The Plains
Solar Farm, located 33km south of Hay in the Riverina Murray region of NSW.
The project will include approximately 900,900 solar panels
covering around 12 hectares for a maximum installed capacity of 500 MW DC / 400
MW AC, plus a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility with a capacity of
up to 400 MW/1600 MWh.
ENGIE’s broader Plains Renewable Energy Park project also
includes a proposed wind farm development that will consist of up to 201 wind
turbines providing a maximum installed capacity of up to 1800 MW. The solar
farm may utilise shared infrastructure proposed as part of The Plains Wind
Farm.
The solar farm project area covers a total area of 2572
hectares and the potential disturbance footprint covers 943 ha.
A referral for the solar farm was submitted to federal
DCCEEW for assessment under the EPBC Act.
