Preconstruction kicks off at Munna Creek Solar Farm
Published Date : 2023-October-19, Thursday
Multi-national renewable energy developer Mytilineos has acquired the 120 MW Munna Creek Solar Farm project, 40km north-west of Gympie in Queensland, and started pre-construction works.
The project was originally developed by Renewable Energy System Technologies Pty Ltd (REST Energy) and will be built on 255 hectares of an overall 470 ha project area.
In May the project was declared not a controlled action by
the federal DCCEEW. It was approved by the Fraser Coast Regional Council in
early 2018.
A 132kV substation will be built to facilitate connection to
the transmission lines that cross the project area.
The existing electricity easement which intersects the western section of the project area is considered suitable and a connection agreement to the substation has been secured from the network service provider Ergon Energy.
Full construction activities will start next month. It will
be the Greece-headquartered Mytilineos’s ninth Australian solar farm project,
including the recently completed Moura Solar Farm (pictured above) near Banana in northern Queensland.
