TE H2, a partnership between TotalEnergies and EREN Groupe,
is planning a gigantic 2700 MW solar farm approximately 48km south-east of
Darwin and 8km south-east of Humpty Doo in the Northern Territory.
The Wak Wak Solar Farm is proposed to be constructed on a maximum total solar footprint of up to 2500 hectares on a pastoral station within the Litchfield Council Local Government Area.
The first stage is expected to be in the vicinity of up to 900 MW DC, and will take approximately four years to build. Around 6 GWh of battery energy storage system is also planned.
Electricity generated at the project will be fed into up to two 33/ 330kV step up collector sub-stations, then sent via a high-voltage overhead transmission line to Middle Arm in Darwin - where TE H2 has the Darwin H2 Hub in development - and potentially connect into the Darwin Katherine grid.
TE H2 said it will invest $2.8 billion into the Wak Wak Solar Farm project which will create up to 900 jobs during construction and 50 ongoing jobs during operations.
Community information sessions were held earlier this month in Humpty Doo, and TE H2 is progressing with the project’s environmental and planning approvals for referral to the NT Environmental Protection Authority and the federal DCCEEW.
Map appears on TE H2's project website.
